Summer Neuroanatomy Teachers Workshop

* Due to the COVID19 pandemic this workshop will not be offered in 2020. We look forward to having you join us in future iterations of the workshop.

Come learn about the human brain and nervous system  through a hands-on  workshop centered around  the  study  of  intact biological specimens. The  goal of this  workshop is  to help you develop materials to enhance your classroom activities  through the interaction with a content  expert in comparative neuroanatomy.  This interactive workshop will be conducted on the Des Moines University campus. Participants can choose to attend either day of the workshop (July 25th or 26th  July 2019) (from noon-4pm). Lunch will be provided. Registration and participation in the workshop is completely free  to high school or community  college biology/science) teachers. All participants  will be provided with powerpoint templates pre-populated  with relevant content covering topics such as: the organization of the Gross Brain and Blood Supply, Meninges, CSF and Ventricular system,  Brainstem,  Cerebral cortex  and an overview  of  the motor  and  sensory  pathways. You will have the opportunity to capture your own images of relevant anatomical specimens, during our observations, and to use this to supplement your teaching of the human nervous  system.  Please note spots are limited to 20 participants per day.
