Neuroanatomy Teachers Workshop - 25th -26th July  2019

Come learn about the  human brain and nervous system  through a hands-on  workshop centered around  the  study  of  intact biological specimens. The  goal of this  workshop is  to help you develop materials to enhance your classroom activities  through the interaction with a content  expert in comparative neuroanatomy.  This interactive workshop will be conducted on the Des  Moines University campus. Participants can choose to  attend either on the July 25th 2019 or the 26th  July  2019 (from noon-4pm). Lunch will be provided. Registration and participation in  the  workshop is completely  free  to  high school or community  college biology/science) teachers. All participants  will be provided with powerpoint templates pre-populated  with relevant content covering topics such  as: the organization of the Gross Brain and Blood Supply, Meninges, CSF and Ventricular system,  Brainstem,  Cerebral cortex  and an overview  of  the motor  and  sensory  pathways. You will have the opportunity to capture your own images of relevant anatomical specimens, during our observations, and to use this to supplement your teaching of the human nervous  system.  Please note spots are limited to 20 participants per day. Registration is required! This workshop is generously funded through an award from the Iowa STEM BEST®.
