So you want to be a Neuroscientist
 

If you interested in visiting the EBL with your class ask your instructor to contact Des Moines Universities Community Relations Manager, (brianne.sanchez@dmu.edu), Mrs. Brianne Sanchez.  Some of our public outreach activities include the 'So you want to be a 'neuroscientist' and 'Anatomy Day" (for 7th and 8th graders) organized by the Science Center of Iowa; the Live from Heart - video stream of an Open Heart Surgery hosted by DMU-Science Center; visits from local middle schools in the Greater Des Moines region and DMU HealthPass Neuroanatomy lab.

 

The EBL has also hosted continuing medical education Neuroanatomy workshops for various groups ranging from post-graduate physical therapists to representatives from the business sector. If you interested in scheduling one of these activities for CME credit please contact Des Moines Universities Director of Continuing Medical Education, Ms. Vanessa Ross (vanessa.ross@dmu.edu).

EBL Comparative Brain Bank and Tissue Repository

In collaboration with a few local contributors, the Evolving Brain Laboratory has established a Comparative Neuroanatomy 'Brain Bank'/ tissue bank. It is hoped that this will serve as a valuable educational and research resource to students and scientists in Iowa. If you'd like to learn more or would like to make a contribution to our collection, please contact Dr. Spocter for more details.

Getting Involved

Opportunities exist for interested and highly motivated undergraduates and graduates to get involved in research projects undertaken by the Evolving Brain Lab via the DMU Mentored Research Internship. For more information please contact Dr.Spocter directly.
